Music through Time - at Kellie Castle
Jim Trimble
Friday 21 September 2018

At Kellie Castle at 7 p.m.

This will be a fascinating musical journey of Scottish music from 1360 onwards which gives us a glimpse of a musician’s life in a Scottish Country House like Kellie Castle.  A variety of period instruments will be played such as the Lute, Virginal and Hurdy Gurdy, each being introduced in a relaxed, amusing and informative way.  Kellie Castle’s fortepiano will also feature in this programme of music which includes works by Thomas Robinson who taught the lute to James VI, John Clark of Penicuik, and Thomas Erskine 6th Earl of Kellie amongst others.

Some people may have seen Jim Tribble in his performance of ‘Music Through Time’ in 2016 at the Byre Theatre, St Andrews and will know that you are in for a musical treat.  Jim lives in Anstruther and is a composer, performer and teacher.  His particular interest is Mediaeval Music and he has a wonderful collection of musical instruments of the period.  When he is not teaching or making music with choirs and orchestras, Jim can, on occasion, be found in costume as a wandering minstrel in places like Stirling Castle, Edinburgh Castle, Rosslyn Chapel and Falkland Palace demonstrating and explaining the instrument he is playing.
